Welcome to Dollar Museum

We are pleased to be open to visitors

GUIDANCE FOR VISITORS: To ensure the safety of visitors and our volunteer staff we are operating the following arrangements which we hope you will comply with. These are subject to change as circumstances and regulations change.

Contact details: Please use the QR code provided (NHS ‘Check In Scotland’ linked to Test & Protect) to register your details. If this is not done you will be asked to provide your contact details to a member of staff on entry.

Opening times and numbers: Normal weekend visiting times – no appointments necessary. The change to 1-metre distancing rule allows us to have up to 15 visitors at a time in the Museum, along with our two volunteers on duty. If the museum is very busy you may be asked to wait outside until other visitors leave.

Face masks: Visitors are expected to wear face masks (unless exempt).

Hand sanitiser: A wall-mounted dispenser is provided on the left-hand side as you enter.

One-way system: Signage will be in place to indicate routes and distancing. At this point in time, the upstairs room is closed.
Toys: Unfortunately, we cannot put out extra material or allow children to play with the Dolls House or Victorian Toys, or dress up, until covid restrictions are further eased.
Shop, payments and donations: merchandise is available for sale but we would urge use of contactless payment by card. Donations can also be made by contactless method, although cash donations can still be placed in the donations box.
Safety: We will ensure adequate ventilation and that surfaces are wiped regularly. Please try to limit what you touch. We will provide laminated sheets that will be cleaned. We also regret that for reasons of health safety our toilet facility will be closed.

The Reading Room (upstairs) will be closed during public opening hours, but you may make an appointment to do research at another time by emailing the Hon. Curator at dollarmuseum@btconnect.com
