2022 Exhibition

The Museum will reopen on Saturday 16th April 2022 and a new Exhibition is being planned. Watch this space. Recently added the Time-Line of Dollar History and a working model of Dollar Railway Station. Please go to our Exhibitions page.

Talk on Witchcraft – Friday 8th April 2022

Stirling Council’s Archivist, Pam McNicol will share the stories taken from primary sources dating from the time of these supposed practitioners of the dark arts. These records give details of testimonies taken directly from those accused and give a fascinating insight into the fears and superstitions of this turbulent time in Scotland’s history. The talk will be illustrated with examples of the records surviving and held at the Council Archives in Stirling.  Click here for more details.

Children’s Competition – Easter 2022

Our first Children’s Competition was held at Easter 2021, with two prize winners. We are holding another competition this year. Rumour has it that it will involve decorating a small stone. So be on the lookout for a nice stone and keep watching this space for more details.

Annual Outing

Our Annual Outings have been postponed due to the covid pandemic – and at present it would not be practical to organise a bus trip. We are thinking about possibly going to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow and this will be kept on the calendar for Spring of 2023.

Dollar Gala – Saturday 4th June 2022

Dollar Gala is back, this year on June 4th. The Museum will have a stall and many items from our shop. There will also be a quiz – The Dollar Museum Platinum Jubilee Quiz – so pick up your entry forms from our stall and join in the fun!

Annual Strawberry Tea – Wednesday 27th July 2022

Our summer event will be held on Wednesday 27th July, from 2.30pm – 4.00pm in the Burnside Hall. We will have a number of stalls selling baking, books and items from our Museum Shop. A popular event returning to our calendar!

Dollar Historic Walk – September 2022

Last year we held walks as part of the Doors Open Days 2021 in Clackmannanshire event. It was a great success with groups of people joining us on a guided walk round Dollar – viewing places of historic interest.  We hope to be able to run this event again this year. We gather in front of the Museum for a 2.00 pm start on both Saturday and Sunday. (Dates to be arranged)

Friday 7th October – A.G.M.

We have held virtual meetings on Zoom for the last two years. Will the AGM for 2022 be a face-to-face meeting or virtual? Arrangements will be notified to Friends in advance of our 2022 AGM which will be held on 7th October, 2022.

November – Book Sale

We again hope to hold our very popular Annual Book Sale at the Museum in early November.  Nearer the time we will be happy to accept well-read books or even mint unopened copies – and you can come and get your reading material for this winter. See our page.

Friday 25th November – Quiz Night

Looking forward – our Quiz Night used to be a fixture in our calendar.  A popular event for teams up to six people.  In the past, tickets have included supper, and refreshments are available. Bring along your friends and enjoy the evening.  Venue: to be arranged, and will start at 7.30pm. Arrangements to be confirmed so watch this space for updates. The event is being planned for Friday 25th November 2022 – make a note in your diary.

December  – Dollar Christmas Fair

We will be running a stall at the Dollar Annual Christmas Fair. Come along and get those special Christmas Gifts.
