Muckhart Inn
NO 000 007

The Inn at Muckhart was established in 1806 and has a long and interesting history. It lies at the point where the old coach road and modern road unite. Muckhart parish was used as a stopover for drovers in the 18th Century as they could refresh and rest their livestock en-route to markets in Clackmannanshire, Stirling, Perthshire, and Fife. Although it is now the only drinking establishment in Muckhart, it was one of 13 public houses in the village in 1845.
Whilst the building was always low, this effect has been emphasised due to the raising of the road level (normal when ancient routes were macadamed in the early 19th century). It is a C listed building.
It is family owned and run with low ceilings, exposed timber construction and a welcoming log burner. Recently extended to rear, with a large, spacious bright room with seating and Television.
The restaurant produces good quality food, making the inn popular with locals and tourists. It serves their own Devon Ales, brewed at its sister pub, the Mansfield Arms in Sauchie. Holiday cottages are also attached.
