Exhibition of Watercolours
Waller Hugh Paton in Dollar
A small exhibition of local watercolours by the Scottish landscape painter Waller Hugh Paton, RSA, RSW (1828-1895) will open in the Museum on Saturday 6th August. Brother of the more famous Sir Joseph Noel Paton, W. H. Paton spent several summers sketching and painting round Dollar. His daughter Alexa Agatha was born in Islay Cottage in Dollar. The attractive watercolours on display have been lent for this exhibition. They show the influence on him of the Pre-Raphaelite movement and his interest in local scenery, including Castle Campbell and Dollar Glen.
